Land of Opportunity (Also, of Cupcakes)

  • Veronika from the Czech Republic: Do you know this show "Two Broke Girls?"
  • Me: Yes, I know it.
  • Veronika: I love it! I am going to spend all day tomorrow watching it. It is just the sort of show I needed. I love the humor. Except that, every time I watch it, I want a cupcake.
  • Me: Ha! Yeah, there's always that problem.
  • Veronika: ...
  • Veronika: ...So, do you know where we can buy cupcakes in Bremen?
  • Me: What!? No. No, I don't think they're very popular over here. Back home they're all over the place.
  • Veronika: The last time I had a cupcake was a year ago in Krakow. And all we have in the Czech Republic are these fucking muffins! Once I had a cupcake, the muffins were not the same.
