The fact that in America in 2012 someone—regardless of gender or party—could think that this is an acceptable thing to say or believe is abhorrent, and that is the beginning, middle, and end.
I really hope (and this is a hope that I know will not be realized, but, you know, tevs) that people refrain from snarking on this comment and instead say, quite simply, that Todd Akin’s words are an ignorant affront to decent, law abiding, compassionate, informed people. Because this is not, “Oh, look at the dumb thing the other side said, har har.” This is, “Anybody from either side should be publicly shamed for thinking that these words deserve to be spoken.”
